Author Profile: Jodiann Cates

Biography »

Jodiann Doth Read. She also is known to push her glasses up with a well aimed finger straight up the bridge of her nose,  proclaim books are better than movies made from them, and is terribly nearsighted. She once ran over a squirrel with a golf cart because he was "too far away she couldn't see him" Actually the squirrel did run away and then straight back under the back wheels, oddly she might be telling the truth, but to blame her book-born deformity is just sad. All clouds have silver linings. To compensate for her lack of eyesight in the 10 ft to infinity range, her page turning ability is show stopping. A skill that, contrary to popular opinion, does not require dabbing the finger on the tongue first. She also lives in Texas, married to Jack and has 2 kids, Dillon and Nathan. Which in itself could explain all the above.

The author sets out to define romance to the graduating class of 1983 at the University of Iowa. Not an easy task…does anyone listen to commencement speeches? Are we not too fidgety in our eagerness to “get on with it” the “it” being, life.
So Waller sets out to teach the over-schooled one last [...]

Incident At Sweet Marsh

The Author ( after this I am tempted to call him Bob) braves the re-introduction of otters into an Iowa river as witness and photographer, but then the “other” wildlife shows up.
Thinking I have already given too much away, I will go ahead a say a bit more. *wink*
Having never attended the [...]

Slow Waltz for Georgia Ann
The author  writes to his wife about their nearly 25 years of marriage.

Okay, let’s get one thing out of the way. Georgia Ann is perfect. I often shy from the word, but in this instance its correct and in my imperfection both applaud her and hate her for it. With this revelation [...]

Okay I crack this book with much anticipation, even though I have read it many times, I only read it cover to cover the first time. After that I just went right to my favorite essays like a vegetarian cave man would have pounced on a defenseless carrot separated from the herd.

Howdy All, Jodiann here. Bunny was crazy enough to ask me to write about the books I read and I was just nutty enough to accept. I am starting with one of my favorites, one I have read a couple dozen times. It sits on my bedside table with a select few and I read [...]
